For this project in Spanish, our goal was to create a presentation depicting our dream house, using our newly learned spanish verbs, conjugations and words. The final product had to have a minimum of 6 slides, each containing 4 sentences describing that part of the house (the room, or area).
For this project, we started out by writing 3 different paragraphs in spanish, each explaining a different part of my Frida like what he was wearing, the background, and things we were including in the picture. We then either painted, or photoshopped a picture, relating to an actual Frida Kahlo painting. The final product was then presented in front of the class, by explaining each different part of the Frida and also the paragraphs.
I think personally that Frida Kahlo painted so many self portraits, was because she had such a hard life, and painting was the only way that she could express herself and her hardships in life.
I feel that my image came out really well, and depicted the Frida that I was replicating well, and included all the required parts for it and even a little more.
This was exactly the image that I wanted to create from my project outline, and I feel that I matched it really well with what I wanted to do in the first place.
I would do my paragraphs different, and probably choose a different Frida, one that was easier to research, and one that was easier to explain from a spanish standpoint. But my Frida turned out really well, and I think that was my strongpoint when it comes to creating these types of projects.
Dia de los muertos project
In this project, we had to create an art piece that depicted a skeleton doing an action that we would do in a normal life, and then describe it in Espanol. I learned a lot about how the Mexican culture celebrates death instead of grieving for a dead person. They embrace it, which is something that I thought was really interesting and very diverse from our culture. My personal skeleton was skydiving, which is something that I've always wanted to do, and something that I have been planning on doing the summer or 2014. I am proudest of my writing piece in this project, I felt that it was something I spent a lot of time working on and learning about spanish conjugations and other spanish writing techniques, it was definitely a learning curve for me though, trying to speak and write what I wanted to say in another language using what little knowledge I had on that language. I felt that the most difficult project was trying to design the skeleton, since skydiving is hard to depict on paper.. as there isn't much in the background except maybe the occasional cloud and then the parachute (depending on the perspective). I think that next time for this project I would try and think ahead and design a better art piece that depicts what I want to do and what I want to write about for the other portion of the project.
